Archival Ground(s) unfolds Julius’ methodology of working with contested archives and sound as pathways to grapple with the questions of narrative power, emotional cultures, land, ancestralisation and affect. Working with multiscreen digital and analogue projection, voice, sound, shadow and light, this performance investigates sound as an alternative epistemology to the ethnographic archive. It asks how Black subjectivity, memory and land might be encountered beyond the colonial visual order.
